Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Carolyn and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. HijackThis logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you need your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that it happens.

Please do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
Please reply to this thread, do not start another!
Please tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
Please tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
Please try as much as possible not to run anything while executing a fix.

If you follow these instructions, everything should go smoothly.

We have noticed that most people seeking help from us are coming with infections contracted from the use of P2P programs.

Unless you uninstall all P2P software, I am sorry, but my only advice to you will be to reformat the computer.

I must also warn you that continued use of P2P and other questionable programs will likely result in your computer being in the same state again. P2P programs form a direct conduit on to your computer. They have always been a target of malware writers and increasingly so of late. P2P security measures are easily circumvented. Further to that, if your P2P program is not configured correctly, you may be sharing more files than you realize. There have been cases where people's passwords, address books and other personal, private, and financial details have been exposed to the file sharing network by a badly configured program. In addition to infections of the nature found on this computer, use of P2P programs can result in Identity Theft.

If we clean your computer of infection, and you return to us a short time later with an infection contracted by the use of P2P programs, we will refuse our help.

Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
If present, remove the following programs:

BitTorrent
Deepnet Explorer
Limewire
Morpheus
uTorrent
etc

** Take care when answering any questions posed by an uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into keeping the program.

Close the Control Panel.

Make an uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file.

Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Hello Carolyn,

thanks for your reply.

My only concern is with removing Deepnet explorer and Bit torrent.Especially Deepnet Explorer as it is essential to my work and has functions built into it that I need that other browsers do not have?
I also use bit torrent quite often could I use reinstall another program that is more secure than bittorrent but functions in a similar way at a later date?

Also what type of infection/s does my PC have on it?Is it serious?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes

This forums P2P policy is quite explicit and applies to all Peer to Peer programs.

P2P (peer to peer) file sharing programmes must be removed.

Additionally, the forum rules do not allow for cleaning business computers

In General, we do not help in cleaning business or corporate computers. There may be restrictions and modifications installed on such machines that could be damaged or altered by the actions we take to remove Malware. There may also be legal issues regarding any loss of business data that we do not wish to deal with.
If you ask for help and, unknown to us, it involves a business computer, you need to understand that any damages resulting from our advice are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

The full text of the forum rules can be found here.

I see one item in your HijackThis log that can cause browser redirects. Without additional scans, I am not able to determine what the state of the computer is.

I suggest you contact your company's IT support desk or whomever you contract with for computer support for further assistance.
