Zango removed. Still popups

6 min read

This thread's last reply is from March 6, 2009, 5:18 PM UTC. Software, malware, and removal-tool advice below may be out of date — treat specific steps and download links with caution.

Uninstalled Zango. Still have pop ups constantly and I cant close them. Have to CTRL/ALT/DELETE to stop them. Machine will barely run now... everything takes 15 seconds to open and it reboots itself after 20 min.
Greatly appreciate any help. Nancy

Hi nanrector and sorry for delay.

If you still need help, please post next a fresh HijackThis log.
Not a problem! However I had turned my machine off as the popups were taking over and now it will not reboot properly. Takes me to the windows login page (never done that before) but whenI click on my account name, which is the only one, it just cycles back to the login page again. Whatever this is REALLY messed up my machine. Can I try a hijack this in safe mode?

Nancy
Yes if you can log in in safe mode.
I finally got the Safe Mode screen to show... but it disables my keyboard once I'm at the screen... so I can't use my arrow keys to select Safe Mode. This is one nasty malware/virus.

Unless you have an idea for how I can get the Safe Mode I will probably have to close this thread until I figure out how to get my mahcine booted again.

Thanks,
Nancy
Do you have wireless keyboard?

That could explain it.
No USB. It is active for me to hit F10 to get to the screen I need... then it turns off. I plugged in another USB keyboard to test. Same problem.
Nancy
Well if you have CD you can try to boot from it and let me know if it works.
Well if you have CD you can try to boot from it and let me know if it works.
I still can't get it to boot. I'll just close this until I can get it working. Its my 2nd machine so its not a huge priority but I do hate a virus getting the best of me! Thanks for the attempt. If I can get it booting again I'll repost. Worse comes to worse I can just reformat it.

Thanks again!
Nancy

PS
Can't see where I "close" the topic. I'll check again once I post this to be sure.
Members can't close posts, only moderators can.

I can redirect you to some other forum which might be able to help to get your computer bootable if you like to.
