Recently I've been having problems with my computer. I've noticed three problems. First is that I've been getting ads even though I was adblock plus on my firefox browser. Second is that multiple internet explorer windows have been opening randomly to this site: hXXp://url.urtbk.com/cpv... Third is that I cannot open Mal-ware Bytes. Each time I open it it closes immediately after. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it but it still seems to not be working.

My OS is currently Windows Vista and I use Mal-ware Bytes and AVG to protect it. I'm don't know what's wrong and was hoping you could help me. I appreciate it.

Hello and welcome to Malware Removal.

My name is peku006 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.
I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

Please observe these rules while we work:

  • If you don't know or understand something please don't hesitate to ask
  • Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans whilst I am helping you.
  • It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
  • Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

1 - download and run RSIT

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt<- (will be maximized) and info.txt<- (will be minimized)

2 - Status Check
Please reply with

1.the logs from RSIT (log.txt ,info.txt)

Thanks peku006

Hi there, peku. Just wanted to update you a bit on my situation.
I downloaded something called superantispyware. It seems to have taken care of my problem with opening mal-ware bytes. After running both superantispyware and mal-ware bytes my ad problem and the problem with multiple internet explorer windows seems to have gone away. It seems all my previous problem have gone away but a new problem has shown up.

Everytime I start my computer a window shows up. It says Run DLL and vofehafi.dll. Any idea what I should do?

Hi offbeat
Everytime I start my computer a window shows up. It says Run DLL and vofehafi.dll. Any idea what I should do?

it is empty registry entry, we remove it now

1 - Disable Windows Defender

From your log i can see this that you are running a Windows Defender. This might interfere with fixes we are about to do so we need to disable it. To disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection.

  • Open Windows Defender
  • Click Tools
  • Click General Settings
  • Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
  • Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
  • Close Windows Defender

Note:Once your log is clean you can re-enable Windows Defender Real Time Protection.

1 - Remove bad HijackThis entries
  • Run HijackThis
  • Click on the Scan button
  • Put a check beside all of the items listed below (if present):

      R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE= ... pf=desktop
      R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - *{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)
      O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [lofohulot] Rundll32.exe "c:\progra~2\vofehafi\vofehafi.dll",a

  • Close all open windows and browsers/email, etc...
  • Click on the "Fix Checked" button
  • When completed, close the application.

3 - Download and Run ComboFix
We will continue with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:
This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.
ComboFix SHOULD NOT be used unless requested by a forum helper

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
If you need help to disable your protection programs see here.

When finished, it will produce a log for you
Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

4 - Status Check
Please reply with

I would like to view the last Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Log if available please. It can be found here(if present):

I've done 1, 2, and 4 but something funny happened when I tried to run combofix. I exited and disabled all of my scanners but it said one was still running Prevx 3.0. I don't use it but I can't seem to find it or disable it. Should I just continue?

Hi. Somethingelse happened. I'm not sure if it was part of the program. I uninstalled Prevx using the tool you gave me but it still showed up when I used ComboFix. I proceeded anyway but my computer crashed. Something about the drive unloading.

For the most part I don't seem to be experiencing the problems I had before. The RunDLL thing is gone too.

Due to a lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
