Cant run any programs...

Unread postby nysk8er529 » April 3rd, 2010, 3:25 pm

Hi, my computers anti-virus popped up saying it was blocking possible threats and then some fake windows antivirus stuff popped up. i immediately closed them out and ran my antivirus it was having some trouble. so i tried opening re-opening firefox and all i got was the "open with" screen asking me what i'd like to open it with. i then tried IE and same problem. i restarted my computer hoping it might fix the problem. When my computer restarted nothing that usually loads on startup loaded and any program i try to open i get the "open with" screen and nothing actually opens. i managed to get Firefox open at one point and downloaded hijack this but again im running into the problem where i cannot run any files. Im currently on my g/f's computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Now i know you need a Hijack this log to start off but im unable to run hijack this on my infected computer. System restore isnt working either, again i get the "open with" screen. I tried starting in safe mode but am still getting the "open with" screen on anything i try and run.
Thanks
-Sean

EDIT: Ok so if i run windows in safe mode with CMD prompt i can run certain files. I was able to run hijack this and here's the log
Edit2: Ok i can run files if i right click them and hit "run as administrator" so i still need help fixing everything but i now have a back way of running files.

I see from your HJT log that you're using a 64 bit operating system.

Unfortunately, the tools we use to analyze and remove infections do not work properly on a 64 bit operating system, and their results cannot be relied upon. Because of this, it is almost impossible for us to correctly diagnose problems, and the fixes we might offer could potentially do as much damage to your computer as any infection you might have.

Due to the above stated reasons, we do not at this time offer support for 64 bit operating systems. We are sorry that we are currently unable to assist you.

This topic is now closed.
