Let’s do the following;

Start HijackThis as you did to generate a log, but this time click on 'Do a system scan only'.
Place a checkmark in the boxes to the left of the following entries, by clicking on them

After you check these items, close all browsers and windows, except for HijackThis, then click on the Fix Checked button on HijackThis.

It appears from your HJT log the you may have a program call Cleanup here is some info on that that cleaner.

Caution if that program is still in use, it has been known to delete the luna theme from XP systems, rendering the computer unable to use the normal XP display.

I gave instructions for downloading and using CCleaner to get rid of temp files.
Using any kind of cleaner without experienced advice can cause problems with computers need to know how and what they are removing. Let's proceed.

*NOTE* CCleaner deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder, back it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running CCleaner!

Download CCleaner from here to clean temp files from your computer.

1.Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
2.Select your language and click OK, then next.
3.Read the license agreement and click I Agree.Watch screen when installing and uncheck block Ccleaner Yahoo Toolbar it is optional
4.Click next to use the default install location. Click Install then finish to complete installation.
5.Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
6.On the "Windows" tab, under "Internet Explorer," uncheck "Cookies" if you do not want them deleted. (If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).
7.If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.
8.Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced."
deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours."
9.Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click Run Cleaner to run the program.
11.Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Issues" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.
12.After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit.

Open Norton to clear out files.
Click on reports top left area.
Click on View Quarantined Items
Click on All Items top left area to highlight it.
Click on items that appear in screen and delete all of them.
close Norton.

Thanks for replying. Don't worry, I am extremely patient. I have a 2-year old and a 1-year-old, so I HAVE to be patient. I work out of the house on the computer as a medical transcriptionist so that I can still take care of the kiddos without putting them in daycare, that is why it was so important for me to have it in super good (or at least, decent condition). You guys are my heroes!

Hi Mayela,

Your computer is still infected. I need you to rerun VundoFix.exe


Please do the following:

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
• Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
• You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
• When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
• Turn your computer back on.
• Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt
  
  • To find vundofix.txt
    
  • click start
    
  • click My Computer
    
  • click local disk c:
    
  • vundofix.txt It looks like a notepad

Next run Ewido:

• If you have an "always on" connection to the internet, physically disconnect that connection until you are finished with Safe Mode and have rebooted back into normal mode.
  
• Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear use arrow up to highlight
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.
  For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site: http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml
  Then, run ewido.
  
  Close all open windows/programs/folders. Have nothing else open while ewido performs its scan!
  
  • On left side of Ewido box:
  • Click on scanner button
  • Click on Complete system scan
  • Let the program scan the machine
  
  
• If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. NOTE: We have been finding some cases of false positives with the new version of Ewido, so we need to step through the fixes one-by-one. If Ewido finds something that you KNOW is legitimate (for example, parts of AVG Antivirus, AOL, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk" have been flagged. In particular, watch for alerts that have the word "Heuristic" in them - if you recognize the file name as "friendly," these may actually be false positives) select "none" as the action. DO NOT check "Perform action with all infections." If you are unsure of an entry, select "none" for the time being. I'll see that in the log you will post later and let you know if ewido needs to be run again.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Click Save report
When window popsup on the left side of this box click on the desktop button and then at the bottom of the box click save button.

Exit ewido
reboot back to normal mode

Please find below updated logs. Also, when I ran VundoFix, it came up with a message box saying "No infected files." So, I could not get you the vundofix.txt file since it did not create one.

Let’s do the following;


Start HijackThis as you did to generate a log, but this time click on 'Do a system scan only'.
Place a checkmark in the boxes to the left of the following entries, by clicking on them:

After you check these items, close all browsers and windows, except for HijackThis, then click on the Fix Checked button on HijackThis.

To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps:
Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.

Double-click on the My Computer icon (or click Start, then select My Computer)

Select the Tools menu (at top of screen) and click Folder Options.

After the new window appears select the View tab.

Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.

Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.

Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.

Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.

Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.

Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

You MUST manage to get into Safe Mode for the fix to work.

Deleting File

Use Explorer to navigate to and delete the following file (if it is present):

Please do a search:
Click Start">"Search">"All Files and Folders"> enter geeba.dll in "All or part of file name". Select "More advanced options". Put Check-mark "Search System Folders", "Search hidden files and folders", and "Search subfolders". Click "Search". If found Right click the file and select delete.

Now repeat theses steps and search for:
abeeg.dll

NOTE
If you locate the file(s) but it resists deletion, right click on it, select properties, and under the "general" tab, check the attributes. If "read only" is selected, deselect it, accept the change by clicking on "Apply" then "OK." Then delete the file.

I was able to find and delete geeba.dll, but abeeg.dll was not found.

Computer is running tons better The anoying and interrupting popups that I was getting have dissapeared completely! I am sooooo happy.

Great job your log apears to be clean.

I would like to mention windows Firewall does not offer the protection that other progams do. Infection go after windows anyway and windows firewall is better than thing. there are some good ones listed below in the info I posted and they are free..


First lets rehide your System Files

• ClickStart.
• Open My Computer.
• SelectTools menu
• Click Folder Options.
• Select the View Tab.
• Uncheck Show hidden files and folders in the Hidden files and folders section.
• Select Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
• Check the Hide file extensions for known file types option.
• ClickYes.
• Click OK

Next lets reset your system restore points please follow these simple steps in order:

• Turn off System Restore.
• On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
• Click Properties.
• Clickthe System Restore tab.
• Check Turn off System Restore.
• Click Apply, and then click OK.

• Turn ON System Restore.
• On the Desktop, right-clickMy Computer.

Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:

• From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
• Click once on the Security tab
• Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
• Click once on the Custom Level button.
• Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
• Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
• Change the Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
• Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
• Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
• Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
• When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
• If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.

Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

Make sure you are protected with a known anti-virus checker and a firewall
Windows XP will supply its own firewall but it will only monitor traffic in one direction

Recommended Anti-Virus Programs

There are many antivirus products out there, and at first, with there being so many different products it may look confusuing to you, some are free products and others are fully licienced products. It is up to you which you go for. For free antivirus product I would be looking at either Avast Home edition or AVG Free edition. If you are going to be looking at fully licienced software then I would seriously consider either Nod32 or kaspersky Antivirus products, both are excellent in their job of keeping viruses at bay.

Recommended Firewalls

Firewalls.... A firewall serves as a program that monitors ports, connections and programs, both incomming and outgoing from your computer. Windows does come with its own firewall but unfortunatly it only monitors traffic in one direction. As a result we advise that you install your own independant firewall. Two good firewalls you can choose from (both are free) are Sunbelt Kerio Firewall and also Zonealarm As with the above anti virus packages, both are excellent in their job.

Please note.... only ever install one anti virus product and one firewall, if you try running more than one antivirus on your computer they will conflct and cause problems with each other. Once you have these products installed and on board your computer the next thing is to update your anti virus, this will check for the latest virus definitions so that your anti virus can detect the latest viruses. One you have updated then you should run a full complete scan on your computer, this may take some time but it is highly advisable that you let this finish on its own accord.

Next, if they're not already present, I would reccomend the download and installation of some or all of the following programs (Unlike firewalls and virus checkers you can run more than one application at once, feel free to download ALL of the below if you wish)

• Ad-Aware SE - This is a program that scans for and removes known spyware from your machine.
• Spybot Search & Destroy - Spybot is a tool like Ad-Aware SE whereas it seeks out and removes known spyware from your machine. These two tools (Ad-Aware & spybot) are perfect complements to each other as one will most always find something the other missed.
• Spyware Blaster - By altering your registry, this program stops harmful sites from installing things like ActiveX Controls on your machines.
• IE_Spyad - Works by placing known "bad" sites into your Internet Explorer "Restricted Zones" prohibiting them from doing potentially problematic things to your computer.

Once you have installed and updated any malware solution tools you must remember to update regularly, I would advise at least a manual check of once a week as well as any auto scheduled checks.( Clean Quote Thanks to Dorian)

Regarding purchasing a firewall: In your case, since you use your computer for business as well as personal purposes, and handle very sensitive information that must be protected from other eyes, You would be better off with a full-featured firewall than a trimmed down personal version.

As for using a trial version, or buying one up front, I think it's a good idea to "try before you buy." Using the trial version will give you the opportunity to try all of the firewall's features. If you try a particular firewall and find you are not comfortable with that one, you have lost no money. Once you determine which firewall suits your personal preferences, then you can purchase it.

Make sure you do not have more than one firewall operating! You should not download and try multiple firewalls simultaneously. Just try one at a time.
