Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bolded text into the Run box and click OK:

ComboFix /u


delete the SmitFraudFix files
rapport.txt which you will find in C:\

empty your recycle bin

Not at all. I used to use it quite a bit last year, but not in the past few months or so.

Let's clean that up then.

Start > Run, type appwiz.cpl and click OK.

Uninstall the following:

google

Now close Control Panel.




Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present)

Everything seems to be running okay so far. :: crosses fingers::

I upgraded IE to 8.0 because I was still experiencing non response issues, so right now that's running well. No more hijacked browsers! (woo hoo!)

I located the Google folder you referenced. Shall I just delete the application or everything in that folder?

Thanks (yet again) for all your help. You've helped me tremendously.

I think we will just take the file googletoolbar1.dll if there,for now.
There may be applications that are dependant on files in the google folder so we will leave the folder in place.
will have a look back tonight to see if we have missed anything before we close up.

CLEAN UP

• Double-click OTMoveIt3.exe. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit3.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  
• Click the CleanUp! button.
  
• Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
  
• If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
  
• The tool will delete itself once it finishes, if not delete it by yourself.
  

Things still ok?

Ran OTMoveIT3.exe

The google.dll file was not there.

Everything seems to be running pretty smooth.

Create a new System Restore Point
This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:
Turn off System Restore-Vista

• Click the Vista/Start icon.
  
• Right Click >> Computer
  
• Click Properties.
  
• Click the System Protection tab.
  
• Uncheck All drives
  
• Click "Turn Off System Restore" at the prompt then click "Apply".
  
• Restart your computer.
  

Turn ON System Restore-Vista

• Click the Vista/Start icon

• Click Properties.
  
• Click the System Protection tab.
  
• Checkmark All drives that were selected previously then click "Apply".
