Scotty barking every few minutes

Hi, Scotty (winPatrol) is barking every few minutes. Sometimes up to 8-9 times in a row. On these occasion if I put my cursor over the icon in the tool bar it says "Scoty checking IE Helper" (or something similar). When Scotty barks just a few times 3-4 times) it does not give any message (or I am too late for it to do so). I had a similar experience a few weeks ago, but then it stopped. A google search suggested I may have a malware, and to post a Hijackthis log in this forum.
