can't install antivirus & anti-spyware software~

You can try to reinstall those programs & recreate connection but your symptoms indicate network/hardware issues.

i'm trying to run the kaspersky online scanner, although it has been 3 times failure. if it succeeds, i'll post the log here.

okay, i'll reinstall everything and see how it goes.

You can also try this instead:

Please go to ESET Online Scanner - © ESET All Rights Reserved... to run an online scan.
Note: You - will - need to use Internet Explorer for this scan!
  1. Check the box next to "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
  2. Click "Start"
  3. Click Yes... at the run ActiveX prompt. Click Install... at the install ActiveX prompt.
    Once installed, the scanner will be initialized.
  4. Click "Start". Make sure that the options:
    • Remove found threats is UNCHECKED
    • Scan unwanted applications is CHECKED
  5. Click "Scan"
  6. Wait for the scan to finish... it may take a while... please be patient. When the scan is finished...
  7. Use Notepad to open the log file located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
  8. Copy and paste the contents of log.txt in your next reply.

i'v already tried ESET online scanner before (before i found this forum) but the scanner says my comp is clean. also tried f-secure online scanner, found a malware and deleted it, but actually it's still there. after i've found this forum and followed your instructions the malware's gone.

dunno what kind of antivirus to trust anymore :?

Different antiviruses find different things.

Do you happen to remember what F-Secure found?

can't remember, sorry T__T

i've uninstalled all the things related to internet like mozilla, etc. and made a new broadband connection. i'm currently trying (again) to scan using the kaspersky online scanner. will report updates.

actually i've been wanting to ask, how to clean up the registry from bits of previously uninstalled apps? example, my comp comes with this free napster trial link, i've already deleted/uninstalled it, but it's still there in the registry...

Good :)

Before final instructions, you will have to install an antivirus.

Looking over your log, it seems you don't have any evidence of an anti-virus software.

Anti-virus software are programs that detect, cleanse, and erase harmful virus files on a computer, Web server, or network. Unchecked, virus files can unintentionally be forwarded to others, including trading partners and thereby spreading infection. Because new viruses regularly emerge, anti-virus software should be updated frequently. Anti-virus software can scan the computer memory and disk drives for malicious code. They can alert the user if a virus is present, and will clean, delete (or quarantine) infected files or directories. Please download a free anti-virus software from one these excellent vendors NOW:

1) Antivir PersonalEdition Classic- Free anti-virus software for Windows. Free support.
2) avast! 4 Home Edition - Anti-virus program for Windows. The home edition is freeware for noncommercial users.
3) AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition - Free edition of the AVG anti-virus program for Windows.

You should run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and results in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

After that, please post back a fresh HijackThis log.
