Dear Malwareremoval help, First a disclaimer... I know that Artemis was quarantined by McAfee and deleted, and that it subsequently returned, and the symptoms match some of Aretmis symtoms. But I don't know for sure my problem is Artemis, or something else, or Artemis plus something else. -- Symptoms: The PC will operate normally, with unimpeded Internet access until... at some point each day (it was 3 AM for several days, today it was around 4 PM) I will be unable to access the Internet. After a reboot or two or three, access is restored. I have not noticed any symptoms other than the blocking of Internet access, and maybe slow bootup... but I'm not sure if the bootup is slow or normal! -- A week or more ago McAfee quarantined Artemis!987C59D185A, which I opted to delete. The same symptoms returned the next day, but it was a few days before McAfee once again quarantined Artemis!xxxx (I didn't check to see if the number was the same). Hi, pgmigg,

Thank you so much for your patience and persistence as you helped me work though this. Our computer is clean and is much faster on startup/login than it had been.

Ran Delfix, which did its job.
Ran sfc /scannow. Result: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations
Restarted computer
Ran powershell to reinstall Windows System apps, and restarted computer.

The Start menu problem is still with me, but it's low impact, so I'll put up with it unless it gets worse - I just have to keep restarting until it goes away, and it's only in the admin account, not the user account which is where we normally live and work.

I've reviewed and will use the guide to staying safer online - some I do already but some I need to start doing.
