Hi Diane.
Yes please try it via the recovery option,
barryndiane
it says
1: D:\MiniNT
2: D:\I386
3: C:\WINDOWS
Which Windows installation would you like to log onto
<To cancel, press ENTER>?

Hi Diane.
I just need to check something and will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience.

Hi Diane.
I have some bad news our only option is to either re-format and re-install your operating system, or try a repair install.
First question do you have your XP discs that came with your PC?
barryndiane
I was afraid of that ha. I can't find an xp disk. The users guide for our computer (a Compaq) says that it has a "recovery partition" on the computer. "No more hunting for lost cd's". This was my husband's computer so I am not sure what it actually came for.
barryndiane
i did that and it shows screen of
phenix-awardBIOS CMOS setup utility
barryndiane
im in safe mode and it shows same system error
lsass.exe
barryndiane
i read the book ...it says hit f10 that takes me to the system rec page should i proceed with this or follow instructions from previous post
barryndiane
its asking if i want to install the hardware .it has not passed windows logo testing to verify its compatability

Hi Diane.
Can you tell me the make and model of your PC and i will see what i can find out.
The method for doing this differs depending on the maker of the PC so i can only go by the instructions i can find.
It may be that you will have to order recovery discs from HP in order to reformat.
barryndiane
It's a Compaq Presario. The hardware it is asking about is Microsoft Kernel Acoustic Echo Canceller. Before it was 3d graphic hardware, I clicked don't install on it.
