Hi polekat,

Please navigate to Hijackthis.exe. Right-click on Hijackthis and select Rename. Rename Hijackthis.exe to scanner.exe.

Run a new scan using the newly renamed scanner.exe. Select the Do a system scan and save a log file button. When the scan is done, Notepad will open with the results of the scan. Select the entire text (Ctrl + A), copy it (Ctrl + C), and paste it (Ctrl + V) the entire contents of this log as a reply to this thread.

Hi polekat,

Your version of java is out-of-date.
Delete the older versions of Java and download the newest
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.
  1. Close any programmes you may have running, ESPECIALLY your web browser
  2. Click Start > Control Panel.
  3. Click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  5. Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  6. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
  7. Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

Then download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment, and install it to your computer.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

After you have completed these steps, please post back with the results of the Vundofix log followed by a fresh HijackThis log.

I ran the vundo but it didn't give me any log option. It deleted six files. I took off the java stuff. Here's the latest hijack log (thanks for your help it's appreciated):

Hi polekat,

Let's run Vundofix again. Sometimes it can take multiple passes to completely clear the infection. Please follow these directions carefully.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • When the scan is done, click the Start menu.
  • Click on My Computer.
  • Double click on the C: drive.
  • Look for vundofix.txt. Open this text file.
  • Select the entire text (press Ctrl + A), copy (press Ctrl + C) and paste (press Ctrl + V) the results as a reply here along with a fresh HijackThis scan.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Again, please post back with the vundofix results along with a fresh HijackThis log.
