Virtumonde.dll problems

Hi. I can't get rid of Virtumonde.dll. Spybot S&D finds it every scan, but removal does not work. It's hitting me with popups and also seems to be blocking out several internet sites (including google search, which is annoying.)

RENAME HIJACKTHIS

There is some infection hiding in your log.

Using Windows Explore by right-clicking the Start button and left clicking Explore navigate to: C:\Program Files\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe

Right-click on HijackThis.exe & select Rename to scanner.exe and post back a new Hijackthis log.


Download and Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

• Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
• At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to:
  
  • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
• Then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply.
• If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this: C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Unfortunately I've been disobeying guidlines and continuing to screw with my computer - having killed this process:

my computer now restarts and runs properly with no noticeable evidence of malware.

*two caveats: a) it wouldn't connect to any of the three update sites, and b) it's a quick scan. I did a full scan after and found nothing. (and yes, my internet connection was active when I tried to update.)

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Disable and Enable System Restore. - You should disable and re-enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

1. Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
2. Select the System Restore tab.
3. Check (tick) Turn off system restore on all drives box.
4. Click OK.
5. Restart your computer.

After restarting your computer, follow these steps:

1. Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
2. Select the System Restore tab.
3. Uncheck (untick) Turn off system restore on all drives box.
4. Click OK.
5. Restart your computer.

Note: Do this only ONCE, don't flush it regularly.
