Continual Pop ups when going onto the internet

I have a HP Pavillion 1.86 GHz, 2 GB RAM XP Media Center. Norton Antivirus.

I am having all sorts of pop up come up whenever I navigate to the internet. It sends me to all sorts of websits, but the main one is Antivirus 2009. It is such a pain. Everything is slowing down. I have tried running all sorts of antispam software without any of them working.

• Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools
  
  
• Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  
  
• As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  
  
• Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

Are both Symantec AntiVirus and Microsoft Windows OneCare Live up-to-date?

Yes they are both up to date.

It seems like whatever we did has fixed my pop ups!!! Thank you so much. It was so frustrating. Not sure what we got rid of, but the internet is working great!!!

In that case please uninstall one of them as only one antivirus should be active.

As Symantec AntiVirus is commercial one, I recommend that you uninstall Microsoft Windows OneCare Live and enable windows firewall (if Symantec AntiVirus doesn't have a firewall).

Post back a fresh HijackThis log afterwards, please.

1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
