issues with defender and outgoing conections

Hi,
i think my laptop has some sort of malware/trojan active. initially what was happening was everytime i went to search something in google and click on a result it would redirect me to two or three add sites in a row before finally on the third or fourth ocasion allowing me to access the site. however on some sites like macaffe it would not let me visit at all no mattre how many times i tried. i then downloaded multiple products (trojan removers, spyware blaster, spy ware doctor, trials of norton, trial of avg etc) to try and find one that could remove the issue, however most of them couldnt see any issue and others like spywar blaster could not connect to their server to download updates-thus the program couldnt be used. i downloaded spybot search and destroy and it identifed only 2 malware issues but both were low risk.

now at least i can access the search results from google however there are other issues which i believe are still associated to potential trojan behaviour. For example i was able to get the install file from a friends computer for mcafee total security and it cant conect to its server during the installation, spyware dr can not connect to its server and when i run the update for windows defender it says "cant check for definitions error code 0x80244019. under advisement i downloaded hijack this and created a log file posted below. if someone could please analyse it and tell me if indeed i do have a mallicious program running i would greatly appreciate it.
i dont have any anti virus software (other than spybot now) and the only firewall i have is defender. if you need any further clarification pleaes let me know. thanks in advance for any help

You should run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and results in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

my wife actually bought mcafee for her machine and i was trying to load that on mine but during the instalation process it needs to get an update but is not allowed. same problem as windows defender i think

Anyway downloaded Avira program as you suggested but it can not connect to the net to update the database. regardless did a system scan and it found nothing problematic.

weird thiing is that i know i have no other firewall or antivirus software that would block a connection

• Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
• Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
• When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
• When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
  • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
• Then click Finish.
• MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
• On the Scanner tab:
  • Make sure the "Perform Full Scan" option is selected.
  • Then click on the Scan button.
• If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
• The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
• When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
• Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
• Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
• The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
• Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

• Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
• Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
• Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
• Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

i take it limewire is a type of p2p then.
got rid of that and tried to update vista-it worked. also unintalled iviva antivirus and installed mcafee-again it worked. does that mean evrything is better or does something still exist? thanks again

As far as I know, it needs to be installed by someone; haven't heard about "drive-by" installations.

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.

1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
4. Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
   Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
   Archives
   
5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
7. You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
8. Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
