cant update anti virus or update windows

Hi looking to know if some one can help me. From 7 dec i have been having problems with the laptop. Two things mainly are happening. When i try to update the Kaspersky internet suite, it will not update bit gives me "error connecting to update source." and "a network failure occured during download updates."
Secondly i can not get onto windwos update site. The yellow shield shows when i turn laptop on, but when i click it nothing happens and shield removes. When i try to update using the web site it redirects me to http://www.msn.com i can not get to site.
Also tried downloading msn malware removal tool and it would not allow me to downlad that i had to get it from other computer.
I have redirections occuring too on browser.
Have hjt file if it is needed
