My windows XP automatic updates will not turn on...

Furthermore, while I am online, pop-up windows keep opening frequently. The below is my windows notepad info from the HijackThis scan the site asked one to run. I usually use firefox, but even using firefox I still get popups.

Make an uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

• Start HijackThis
• Click on the Config button
• Click on the Misc Tools button
• Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
• Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Save the file to your desktop.

Anti-virus software is a program that detects; cleans and erases harmful virus files on a Computer; Web server or Network. Unchecked, virus files can unintentionally be forwarded to others and thereby spread infection. Because new viruses regularly emerge, anti-virus software should be updated frequently. Anti-virus software scans the computer memory and disk drives for malicious code. They alert the user if a virus is present and will clean; delete (or quarantine) infected files or directories.

I see by your uninstall list that you are missing a few updates, is there a reason for this? Let’s see if we can get that sorted out first as a fully updated system is a plus in helping keep the nasties away.
