my laptop is really slow and it won't shut down, it just says "logging off" and nothing happens, I have to shut it down by holding the off button. Also half the time my laptop won't connect to the interent even though i do have internet because it works on my other computer but not always on the laptop. I think I have a virus of some sort but im not to sure.

You have the following P2P program installed: Limewire
Uninstall the Peer to Peer program, so we are not wasting our time. If you are infected, this is likely where you got it.
  • Click Start
  • Go to Control Panel
  • Go to Add/Remove Programs
  • Find and click Remove for the following (if present):
    Limewire

NOTE: Take care when answering any questions posed by an uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into keeping the program.

Let's remove the older version of HiJackThis and install the newer one.
Remove Programs Using Control Panel(XP)
From Start, Settings, Control Panel or Start, Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.
Highlight each Entry, as follows, one by one, if it exists, and choose Remove :

Download HJTInstall.exe and save to your Desktop.
  • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and a text log file will open in notepad.
  • Make sure Notepad's Format Menu has Word Wrap Unchecked.
  • Copy/Paste the entire log to your next reply please.
  • No matter what it says in the QuickStart Guide or elsewhere, DON'T USE the "ANALYZE THIS" button.
    Its Findings can be Dangerous for your machine.
  • Please Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet.
    Most of what it is in the log are legitimate entries, necessary for the operation of your computer.

This is an encryption service. Do you know anything about either INCA encryption or "Maple Story"?

Download and Install CCleaner
  • Download CCleaner from here . Choose the Slim version.
  • Right-click on ccsetupXXX_slim.exe and choose run as administrator to start the installation of CCleaner. (XXX is the version number)
  • Click OK
  • Click Next
  • Click I agree
  • Click Next
  • Click Install
  • Once the installation has finished, click Finish

Set Options in CCleaner and run Cleaning Scan.
Open CCleaner if it's not already running.
Do not use the Registry block to clean anything with this program. It is for experts only and it is risky.
(As a general rule, don't ever use a registry cleaner or "registry optimizer" of any kind on your machine).
  • Select Cleaner Settings.
    Check Internet Explorer and System so that all items are checked. In The Windows Explorer section, you may wish to leave "Windows Log Files", "Start Menu Shortcuts", and "Desktop Shortcuts" unchecked. In the Advanced section, have a check only on Old PreFetch Data.
  • Click on the Options block on the left. Select Advanced.
    Uncheck Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours.
  • Set Cookie Retention.
    Click on the Options block on the left, then choose Cookies.
    Under the Cookies to delete pane, highlight any cookies you would like to retain permanently (those companies or sites with which you regularly visit or do business), and click the right arrow > to move them to the Cookies to keep pane.
  • Run Cleaning Scan. Click on the Cleaner block on the left. Choose the Windows tab.
    Click the Run Cleaner button. This process could take a while. When CCleaner shows how much has been removed, cleaning is finished.

Exit CCleaner by clicking on the X button in the upper right of the CCleaner window.

Run the RSIT Scanner
Please download the Scanner http://images.malwareremoval.com/random/RSIT.exe and save it to your desktop. The icon will be named RSIT.exe
Right click on RSIT.exe and select Run As Administrator to run it. If Windows UAC prompts you, please allow it.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open
log.txt <- this one will be maximized
info.txt <- this one will be minimized
( Default location for both files is C:\rsit\ )
Copy/Paste the contents of both log.txt and info.txt into your next post please. Use two posts if you prefer.
