Hello,
I believe my browser may have been hijacked. I am afraid to shutdown my computer because my settings change and I have trouble bringing MS Windows back up.

I am pasting my HijackThis log for your review. My objective is to avoid reinstalling windows and get rid of this spyware. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Since it has been some time since your above post, please post the following logs. I will go over the new logs and return as soon as possible.

Step 1
Please make an Uninstall list :
To access the Uninstall Manager, please do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file.
Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.

Step 2
Rerun HijackThis and Save the log.

Post the HijackThis and the Uninstall list using the Reply button.

Hello Beezy,
First, copy or print all instructions for reference.

First Step
Download and Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to:
  • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply.
  • If you accidentally close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this: C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt




Next Step
Download and Run RSIT
  • Please download Random's System Information Tool by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open:
    • log.txt will be opened maximized.
    • info.txt will be opened minimized.

  • Please post the contents of both log.txt and info.txt.

Hello Beezy,

Can you also describe more of what happens when you try to reboot your computer?
Do you have the ability to get into Safe Mode- usually by pressing F8 as soon as PC comes up?
If you get that screen, have you tried Last known good configuration as well as Safe Mode or just doing a normal boot up? Do you get any error messages at all?
Had you recently been having problems or hear beeps (or odd noises from hard drive) at booting/restarting the computer (prior to the infection)?
Any information you can provide will be of help in fixing the boot up problem and the other issues.
