Internet Security 2010 Trojan -

This trojan does the following: a) generates popups and popup virus scans, b) hijacks IE browser and sends to random and sometimes not random websites, c) disables Malabyte Malware, rkill.exe and other security scanners, d) won't allow a safe boot. I managed to fix a) with Spybot - Search and Destroy. It also helped with b) but after a day it seems to be sending to random sites again. This trojan was picked up on my wife's business trip and brought back to our home network. Two other of five computers are showing symptoms.

Is/are the computers in question used for business purposes?

Thanks for your reply. To answer your question yes - my wife's computer is used for her business, the rest are for home use.

After reading all the forum discussions and other research on this IS 2010 trojan, I decided the best thing to do would be to reinstall the OS. As a final insult, a root kit problem didn't allow me to do this. However, I used Ubuntu to install its OS, formatted the hard drive and reinstalled XP that way.

Much appreciated for getting back to me. I am now working on cleaning the other computers in my network.
