BSOD rndismp.sys

Hi,
This is my childrens PC and I have been trying to fix this for days and I am crying UNCLE! After varying amounts of time the PC will dump. The BSOD gives the following:

**stop 0x000000D1 (0x00000002, 0x00000001, oxF798BBEB)

**RNDISMP.SYS address:F798BBEB, base@ F7987000, datestamp 48025770

The weird thing is I can safe boot in debugging mode and never a dump. In debugging mode (also in regular mode, but was taking forever due to dumps) I have done the following:

bought and installed new ram from crucial (a google search mentioned possible memory problems)
updated and ran AVG (it is my main anti virus)
downloaded and ran spybot, removed 20 things
downloaded malwarebytes, removed many things
downloaded adaware, removed a few things, but it still sees a myfuntoolbar files, says they are ok 1 time, but still show up after a second scan. I can't locate this in program files to delete or uninstall.
updated microsoft updates (some failed and one keeps showing up even though I've had what was supposed to be a successful download)
downloaded super anti spyware, removed even more things
downloaded uniblue reg booster, fixed or removed 340 things
downloaded spyware blaster and guard (now running constant)
I have looked in services, but everything seems right. I have run defragmenter, disk clean, and the disk repair, and sector repair through XP properties menus.

Viewpoint.
  • Though not exactly classed as malware they do have some undersirible characteristics.
  • However there is no point to uninstalling any of them, through update of AIM/AOL will install viewpoint automatically.
  • Isn't that nice of AOL and their applications.


SUPERAntiSpyware.
CAUTION: SuperAntiSpyware comes with a utility called Bootsafe
  • Do not for any reason to use it, if used on an infected computer it could render it UNBOOTABLE.


Registry related program.
  • I notice you have the following program(s) installed.
    Registry Mechanic
    Uniblue RegistryBooster
    Uniblue System Tweaker
  • I strongly suggest you avoid anything that claims to clean, fix or optimize the Windows registry and recommend you to uninstall the above program(s). Even the best programs have occasionally made mistakes and made Windows inoperable by deleting critical registry entries. The gains are negligible and the risks are great.

OK- took me a little bit, but I removed all requested including AIM/extras, I removed all suggestions as well. Advice on reg cleaner a little late, I already ran the uniblue before I contacted you. here is the info you requested: as a side note, I can respond in am on 6/3/10, but them I am out of town for the weekend and will be unable to respond until 6/7/10. Thank you so much for your help, I've just about pulled all my hair out! I have been working at this for literally days. I thought it would be a simple matter, LOL. Again, thank you!

Hi,

BACKDOOR TROJAN
I'm afraid I have some bad news for you. Your computer is infected with BACKDOOR TROJAN. Backdoor Trojans are the most dangerous and most widespread type of Trojan. Backdoor Trojans provide the author or "master" of the Trojan with remote "administration" of victims machines. Unlike legitimate remote administration utilities, they install, launch and run invisibly, without the consent or knowledge of the user. Once installed, Backdoor Trojans can be instructed to send, receive, execute and delete files, harvest confidential data from the computer, log activity on the computer, change settings on the computer and more. Please read this article by Roger A. Grimes on Remote Access Trojans it will give you an idea of the severity of the type of infection you have.

You are strongly advised to do the following:
  • Disconnect the computer from the Internet and from any networked computers until it is cleaned.
  • Back up all your important data except programs. The programs can be reinstalled back from the original disc or from the Net.
  • Call all your banks, financial institutions, credit card companies and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and put a watch on your accounts. If you don't mind the hassle, change all your account numbers.
  • From a clean computer, change all your passwords (ISP login password, your email address(es) passwords, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, Amazon, online groups and forums and any other online activities you carry out which require a username and password).


Do NOT change your passwords from this computer as the attacker will be able to get all the new passwords and transaction records.

Because of the severity and the capabilities of this type of virus, (it cannot be known what changes to your system it has made or if it opened up other ways into your system) The only responsible course of action I can advise is to reformat your computer and reinstall windows.

That is distressing, Can you tell me what you are seeing that gives you the indication that it is a backdoor trojan? I was not seeing any of the files listed in the link you provided. Luckily, this computer did not have any financial data on it, nor do I believe does it have any usable information, unless a hacker wants to read my 11 and 13 year old daughters im messages... hi, hahaha, lol... etc.! :) How did this go undetected, I ran 4 different spy catchers, plus adaware plus avg?
