I've used mconfig several times, which reminds me that i need to go through my stuff again. I haven't ever used mrt.exe or SFC /SCANNOW nor have i ever attempted a security scan via internet, though I don't know if it would work at all the way my system is setup, i might have to temporarily take it from behind my wireless router so that the scan can actually get through and not be blocked. (or i could just change my settings)

After reading this thread I can't help but be curious as to how this thread came into being. i don't like to comment really, but curiousity is a weak point of mine.
I would have thought the Military had their own Software, tailor made for each situation.
It scares me really that you wouldn't just ask your IT department head if in doubt, especially regarding security matters, and come to a non military Forum looking for advice .
Maybe there's more going on here than meets the eye ?
First of all, I'd just like to say Hi to everyone. This is my first post and, well, hi.
I am a military IT and work on several computer problems daily (software and hardware failures mostly).
I would have thought the Military had their own Software, tailor made for each situation.
The military wouldn't let me just work on millions of dollars worth of equipment if I didn't know what i was doing, so OBVIOUSLY I know SOMETHING about computers.
