Down load

I am useing Vista OS home edition on a Compaq. my laptop is slowing down when I try to download anything. The DL box appears show bar as its downloading but when it finishes DL. The box goes blank so I can not case it any were. Also when I right click on screen I do get option of adding anything to to it,

Can someone please help me get this fix. So I start removing the mal=ware.
