New Java update is coming on next Tuesday (June 7). The update contains 17 new security vulnerability fixes for Oracle Java SE. Related Pre-Release Announcement here.

Step 5.
5.Oracle has partnered with companies that offer various products. The installer may present you with option to install these programs when you install Java. After ensuring that the desired programs are selected, click the Next button to continue the installation[

I suggest not installing any "partnered" software.

What's the latest on deciding which one to install on an OP's machine?
Are the version 7's still in beta?
The Java.com homepage has a download link that goes to a page that says Recommended Version 6 Update 31 so I am recommending version 6 still until that page recommends v7.
Thanks for the info. I'll follow that as well.
It does seem strange that v7 is on update 3 already, and isn't recommended yet.
